Bio

Brooklyn native Kathleen LeBlanc will be competing for the 2012 Miss Westchester/ Miss Hudson Valley and the 2012 Miss New York USA pageants! She currently holds the title GRAND ARMY PLAZA NEW YORK USA, a central and beautiful part of Brooklyn. With this title she plans to promote Women's Empowerment! Kathleen wants all women to know that "people see us the way we see ourselves so it is important to respect and love ourselves first. In doing so, we set a standard to which everyone who encounters us must elevate to." Kathleen also believes that as women, we must learn to agree to disagree and start working together instead of breaking each other down. "The work we put into being negative towards each other can be used for causes that are greater than ourselves."

Kathleen LeBlanc is working with two charities in particular: Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Center Against Domestic Violence.

Fighting breast cancer is a cause that is dear to Kathleen's heart because she has lost two close family friends to this disease.  Also, cancer is very prevalent in her family.

Though she is not a victim of domestic violence, Kathleen has chosen to speak about the elephant in the room.  Unfortunately, domestic violence is very common and does not discriminate against race, gender, beliefs or economic status.  "Education is key in these situations because many times people don't recognize the signs of an abusive relationship until it gets physical."  Let's make a change today by spreading awareness and helping those in need!
